It began with the idea that the Web could bring people together

In 2001 during a dinner with friends, Marc Simoncini (web entrepreneur), shares an idea with his friends to allow to his single or divorced friends to find someone through the web. Out of this Meetic was born in France. Meetic is now the pioneer in online dating, starting as an innovative start-up and now an unprecedented success story and continued leader in dating across Europe.

In 2009 the Meetic Group took over match.com activities in Europe, before joining the Match Group in 2011 and established its international reputation by joining IAC’s global online portfolio, which with its 50+ brands has for many years been listed amongst the biggest and most influential players in e-commerce and online services. Couple Meetic heritage with the expertise and resource provided by Match Group is the reason Meetic will continue to lead and innovate to fulfil our mission to spark meaningful connections for every single person in Europe and the world.

    Meetic launches the 6th version of its website with a much modern portal, user-friendly navigation, and improved design close to the social networks concept.

    Meetic Group, with leading brands in 16 countries in Europe such as Meetic, Lexa, Neu.de and Match.com is acquired by Match Group / IAC Group, a leading media and Internet company with more than 150 brands and products serving loyal consumer audiences.

  • 2010

    Match Group and Meetic launch a joint venture in Latin America.

    Meetic is the singles’ choice in France: more than 200 000 marriages (over 5% of global marriage in France) and more 1 million couples for the 2005-2010 period.

  • 2009

    Match.com launches mobile application for iPhone and iPhone touch and Palm Pre

    Sale of the European operations of Match.com to Meetic and acquisition of People Media, a leading operator of targeted dating sites, from American Capital Ltd.

    Only 8 years after its creation, Meetic has a strong awareness level (95% in France and over 82% in Spain)

    Meetic S.A becomes stakeholder of Neu.de and acquires 100 percent from Media Ventures GmbH as well as the trademark of Partner.de
