Singles-only coffee shop opens offering customers the chance to find love in their lattes

  • ‘Espresso Yourself’ will serve ‘Chappuccinos’, ‘Femmericanos’ and ‘Selffees’ with profile pictures of eligible Match members printed onto the top of frothy coffees
  • Six different Match members will feature on coffee shop menu for singles to choose from
  • Shop is open for two days (Thursday 19th & Friday 20th January) in Shoreditch, East London

Thursday 19th January, Immediate Release: A singles-only coffee shop using cutting-edge coffee printing technology has opened today in Shoreditch, East London. Dating service Match is encouraging singles to swing by ‘Espresso Yourself’, which will be serving ‘Chappuccinos’, ‘Femmericanos’ and ‘Selffees’, printed with the profile pictures of its members. The shop will open for two days (Thursday 19th & Friday 20th January) and, if successful, could be rolled-out to different cities across the UK at a later date.

The service has been designed to encourage time-poor, coffee-loving Londoners to find themselves a date while getting their daily caffeine fix. Six different Match members, including David Morrison (26 from Oxford), Simon Hill (27 from London), Raminta Gudaityte (27 from Essex), and Chloe Steur (30 from London), decided they wanted to kick off their search for a date in style by featuring on the coffee shop menu for fellow singles to choose from.

Customers that visit the coffee shop in Shoreditch’s Boxpark, will be asked to choose from one of the singles on the menu. After picking their preferred tipple, customers will be handed a free coffee with the profile picture of their chosen single printed into the coffee’s foam.

While drinking their Chappuccino or Femmericano, they can get to know more about their potential beau (their age, height, occupation, interests etc.)  by reading the outside of their specially-designed coffee cup. If they like what they see (and drink) they can simply follow a link printed on the cup to track down their match.

Singles not included on the menu but keen to get involved can pop along and print their own face onto a ‘Selffee’ with the help of one of the on-site staff, before giving it away to someone they like the look of.

To create the unique dating experience, Match teamed up with Ripples, who developed the coffee printing technology which allows life-like images to be printed onto the top of frothy coffees, such as lattes and cappuccinos.

Match dating expert Vicki Burtt commented: “More and more of our members are choosing to go on ‘coffee dates’, and scrolling through potential matches is something people often do while they’re queuing for their morning caffeine fix. We’re encouraging singles to have the confidence to be bold and put themselves out there in a way they hadn’t before. At the same time, we wanted to make finding a date as simple as ordering a coffee, so we’ve teamed up with six of our members to help make it happen.”
