Londoners descend on Battersea to Bark in the Park

published on 6. Apr 2014

A furry good day was had at Battersea Park yesterday as it played host to a singles event for London’s dog-owners. Match.com socials presents Bark in the Park saw more than XXX single Londoners and their canine companions gather at the park’s bandstand on Saturday afternoon as Made in Chelsea’s Lucy Watson and her German Spitz, Digby officially launched new dating event programme, match.com socials.

Bark in the Park, the first in the new programme of match.com social events was attended by more than XX different breeds of dogs including XXXX, XXXX and XXXX. Single Londoners enjoyed a relaxed afternoon meeting and mingling with fellow dog owners while taking part in pooch socialising sessions and obstacle courses. At the same time, they helped match.com to raise over XXX for charity partner, Dogs Trust.

From April, match.com members from cities across the UK will be invited to take part in the extensive range of match.com social events. These are activity based dating events which aim to bring likeminded people together through activities based on their shared interests. They will include activities such as ‘pop up painting’, cookery and photography as well as VIP cinema experiences and medieval banqueting. Match.com socials are an extension of match.com nights which offer members the chance to meet singles at informal get-togethers in bars and pubs. Made in Chelsea star Lucy Watson commented: “Owning a dog is a great way of meeting new people. Digby and I are forever bumping into other dogs and their owners, and when the dogs want to play with one another I get the time to chat. Because we’re both dog lovers we instantly know we have something in common.”

match.com’s relationship expert Kate Taylor was on hand at the event to provide singles with advice. She commented: “Bark in the Park provided a great opportunity for people with a shared love of dogs to get together in a relaxed setting whilst taking part in fun activities.

“We know that taking part in activities which involve a shared interest can be a great way of meeting new people and that’s why we’ve launched match.com socials. Londoners are passionate about their canine companions, and today we’ve seen this they can be a great ice-breaker for singles looking to meet potential dates.”

There will be a full programme of match.com social events throughout the year, offering match.com members even more ways to meet potential dates. For more information and to sign up visit www.match.com/events
